People in the Street
Another of my linocuts for 1/Many, People in the Street is all about that joy of a crowded place, people watching and finding all walks of life together. This print is also in homage to Shirley Hughes, one of my favourite illustrators, whose poem ‘People in the Street’ always makes me smile.
Edition of 20
Oil based ink on Japanese Hosho paper
A vital message in uncertain times, Ceasefire NOW! is a direct call to lay down arms and permit aid to be brought to those suffering in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories of the West Bank. I made this print in desperation at the height of the Israeli attacks from October 2023 onwards, but even now a ceasefire has been called there are still regular reports of innocent civilians being detained, murdered, displaced, starved. This is no ceasefire. And it will continue unchecked until more is done by those in positions of power. Every single penny from sales of this print will be donated to Medical Aid for Palestinians. Because I can’t sit by feeling helpless. Because innocent people do not deserve to be the victims of greed and political geography. Because I am a mother and I cannot fathom the feeling of holding my child’s lifeless body in my arms.
In homage to Shirley Hughes’ poem of the same name, People in the Street is a chaotic street scene showing all walks of life in gorgeous plum purple silhouette
