The End of the Day
At the end of another day of homeschool during the Coronavirus lockdown of 2020, I sat in the evening sun and took a few moments to myself. It was an unprecedented time, and it left me both physically and mentally exhausted, so I was surprised to have the energy or creativity to create this little self portrait. To me, it is a reminder of that time, with the sunflower seedlings on the windowsill showing the promise of the future, and that nature would carry on even as the human world had ground to a halt

A print inspired by, and all about, lockdown during the Coronavirus pandemic of 2020. After another long day of homeschool, I sat to watch the sun going down in the room that used to be my studio. Too tired to work, but frustrated enough to try, this self portrait was born of my need to create amidst the turmoil of the daily news bulletins, and the peace and tranquility to be found at the end of a long, but ultimately satisfying day.
I came back again and again to the small things which then made up our daily lives, and for which I became truly thankful: the pots of seedlings lined up on our classroom windowsill; the warmth of sunlight, oblivious to the dangers of the world; thinking space and good health
